ACTIONS TO BE TAKEN

1. Annual camp will be held from 24 to 26 November 2008 (3D/2N).
The camp programme will be planned by the NCOs from Serangoon Unit to be held at Changkat Changi SS. Cadets are advised to be well behaved at all times during the combined camp.

2. CCA phototaking took place on 1 August. Orders for CCA photos will be submitted to the vendor on 25 August. Tifflin was assigned to submit the CCA page for the school yearbook.

3. (a) Visit to CDA is on 28 August 2008. As this visit is organised by NCDCC HQ, consent forms are to be returned to Capt Lim. Only 2 Tamil cadets do not need to go.
(b) Visit to Geylang Police Centre is on 22 August 2008, together with GG. Sec 2 cadets are to bring their National Crime Prevention handbook & leave their classroom at 2 p.m. The visit is about one hour. Two-way transport is arranged by GG teacher-in-charge. Please report to Mrs Judy Goh in the foyer at 2.20 p.m.

4. NCDCC flag and flagpole which were on loan for the National Day Parade (school celebration) as well as five cadets' uniforms have been returned to HQ Officers on 20 August. The cadets that have been discharged officially in 2008 are Ashley Yow, Rachel Hensen, Tan Qiu Qi, Nurdiana, Linda Poh, Charlene and Charmaine Cumming.

5. Capt Lim has distributed the shoulder tags to all cadets on 19 August. A shoulder tag is to be ironed or sewed on each sleeve (about one finger width below).

6. Days to wear No. 4 uniform and jockey cap : 21/8 and 28/8. Cadets with long hair must wear a hairnet. An email has been sent to inform cadets to leave their classroom at 1 p.m. and assemble in the foyer latest by 1.45 p.m. One-way transport for SMRT CEPP participants and two-way transport for CDA visit have been arranged.

7. Half u is to be worn on 22 October, the day when the Campcraft Assessment will be conducted by HQ Officers. The time limit for a team of six cadets to pitch a tent is 25 minutes. Strict discipline has to be instilled at all times, whether in school, outside of school or in HQ. Please learn to work with different team members.

8. Capt Lim has selected Zoe, Tifflin, Felicia, Sarah Lim and Claire Seow to go for the NCO training in December 2008. They will be roped in to train next year's batch of Sec 1 cadets. We hope to recruit more than 25 new cadets each year.

9. Some cadets will be chosen to prepare for next year's inter-unit Civil Defence Knowledge Quiz. They will be required to do some research after the EOY exams.

10. Sec 2 cadets have to read up on the handouts regarding the National Crime Prevention. They have to submit either an A3-size poster or a 15-page scrapbook that contains articles and reflections on how the crime could have been prevented. They must then pass a written test consisting of multiple choice, True/False and structured questions by 30 August. If they are unable to meet the deadline, they have to be assessed next year.

11. Averyn was asked to use a camera to take photos or video clips of lessons. Rachel and Laurel have to update the CCA noticeboard in October 2008 before the Sec 1 CCA Fair on 3 January 2009. Shamini and Emelia will prepare the speech for the presentation in the hall, Tifflin will explain how to use the fire extinguisher while Elizabeth and some others will demonstrate some footdrill commands.

12. Cadets who have passed swimming tests, please give a copy of your swimming certificate. The results of cadets' first aid written and practical assessments have been sent to HQ.

13. Congratulations! All cadets have been promoted to Lance Corporal on 21 August 2008.

14. If any of your badges is spoilt, please inform Capt Lim. However, not all the badges can be purchased from HQ, especially if it is an external course. Please note that cadets have to bear the cost of replacement of badges.

15. We will be getting a steel cabinet which will be placed at a corner outside the other UGs' store room. In the meantime, Capt Lim will set aside time to arrange the NCDCC things. Tifflin will assist her in admin work during the November holidays.

16. Ms Chang Jia Yin will be going for the 3-week Basic Officers' Course in November 2008. In 2009, she will be in charge of CIP and Sec 1 cadets.

SMRT CEPP on 21 August 2008

Time: 2:30pm - 5:30pm

Reporting Location: SMRT HQ (251 North Bridge Road, 2nd level
Auditorium)
Attire: No. 4 with Jockey Cap

Cadets that have been trained in May were Elizabeth, Huey Yiing, Laurel, Karthi, Tifflin and Claire Seow.

Cadets that will be trained in August are Averyn, Nerin, Rachel, Givion and Yingxuan.
One-way transport will be arranged.

LATEST INFO

When the Math Room is being used for GCE 'N' or 'O' Level English Oral, the training venue will be changed to one of the Sec 3 classrooms.

Attire: No. 4 uniform on selected days

Training in July: First Aid and Footdrill (National Day Parade - sch)

Training in August: Campcraft

The next footdrill training to be conducted by NCC Corporals and CLT is on 18 July from 3 to 5 p.m. Please refer to the post on confirmed dates of combined rehearsals below - there are changes!

Date of First Aid Assessment: 23 July 2008 (practical and written)

Visit to CDA: 28 August 2008

The treasurers will collect $20 from each cadet on 16 July.
