NCDCC Training Programme 2011 & important info

Sec 1 assessments in school: TD (B), Fire Safety, Campcraft theory, Footdrill (B), First Aid

NCDCC HQ organised activities for Sec 1s: Adventure Challenge on 2 April, East 1 sector training on 21 May (Campcraft practical assessment), Affirmation Ceremony and Visit to Civil Defence Academy (date will be made known later).

Sec 1 camps: Unit Camp in March and November / December.

Visits to be organised by OC Unit: HDB Shelter (Year 2), Geylang NPC (Year 2 & 3), Tampines / Central FS (Year 1 to 3) and Heritage Gallery (Year 2 & 3).

Sec 2 badges: CD Shelter, Rescue, HAZMAT theory, Crime Prevention, Total Defence (S), Footdrill (S) and NYAA (B) / CEB.

NCDCC HQ organised activities for Sec 2s: kayaking expedition on 12 Feb, ATC on 19 & 20 Feb, 1-star kayaking course on 26 & 27 Feb, SMRT SCEP Programme on 10 Mar, Campfire Leaders' Course on 15, 19 & 20 Mar, 2-star kayaking course on 2, 3 & 9 Apr, CPR Course on 9 Jul, inter-unit quiz, UAC and SANA Course (dates unknown).

Sec 3 badges: Total Defence (S), Footdrill (S), National Crime Prevention and NYAA (S) / CEB.

NCDCC HQ organised activities for Sec 3s: East 1 sector training on 12 Feb (IPP assessment), CD Knowledge Course on 15 Mar, SNCO Courses from 14 to 18 Mar & 6 to 10 Jun, USAR Course from 22 to 24 Jun, BCLS Course on 13 or 20 Jun, UDI Course from 7 to 10 Sep, HFS Course on 4 Nov, Rescue Equipment Course (for non-USAR participants) on 28 Nov, local OBS, Sabah OBS and overseas trip to Malaysia / HK (dates unknown).

Sec 4 badges (optional): Total Defence (G) and CEB.

NCDCC HQ organised activities for graduating students: AED Course on 18 Feb, Adventure Finale on 27 Feb and Motivational Leader Course (for non-SNCOs) on 12 Mar.

Others: OC Unit Course on 14 Mar (tentative), Service Day on 26 Mar, NCDCC Day Parade on 12 Apr, Appreciation Ceremony and Workplan Seminar (dates unknown).

Events that took place in Jan: Combined UG Campfire on 7 Jan, Sec 1 CCA Fair, NPCC NCDCC Parade on 8 Jan and DART Base Visit on 15 Jan for 8 Sec 4 cadets.

Awards: School Colours Award (Team / Individual), EAGLES (MOE), Unit Best Cadet (Sec 3 or 4), Pinnacle Badge (Sec 4), Outstanding Contribution to CCA Award (Sec 4) & UOPA.

Promotion to WO: Tifflin Tan (overall in-charge of admin and logistics) and Felicia Ong (overall in-charge of training and operations). Promotion to SGT: Hasna. Congratulations!

We welcome CLT Yong Xin and CLT Farah who have been posted to KC w.e.f. Jan 2011 and bid farewell to CLT Asyura and CLT Nadira who had been posted to St Hilda's Secondary School and Coral Secondary School respectively. Thank you for contributing towards the growth of one of the 37 NCDCC units in Singapore. It is not easy for them to come regularly since they are also studying and may have other commitments.

KC NCDCC Unit belongs to East 1 sector which includes Bedok South, Manjusri, Northlight, Ping Yi, Temasek and SPSS.

This year, all cadets and officers have been observed working harmoniously. Teamwork is emphasized when it comes to porch duty, clearing and cleaning the store room. The senior cadets will mentor future student leaders to organise Sec 1 Unit Camps.

OC Unit will empower cadets to carry out their training and admin duties. A good sign: We are getting more organised and more efficient in 2011.

Year 2 & 3 cadets are to attend CCA sessions on Wed from 3 to 6 p.m.
Year 1 & 4 cadets are to attend CCA sessions on Sat from 8.30 to 11.30 a.m.
Attire: half u with CCA t-shirt (Year 2 to 4 cadets), PE t-shirt and shorts (Sec 1 cadets)
Note: 30-week NCDCC training programme has been put up on CCA noticeboard. There is another copy on the whiteboard in the NCDCC Store Room.

*Participation*

Yvette, Irinie, Hasna and Tifflin participated in the NPCC NCDCC Parade. Felicia, Tifflin, Elizabeth, Laurel, Yvette, Yun Di, Nadia and Aqila have been nominated to participate in NCDCC Day Parade. Nadia, Aqila, Adlina, Nur Hanis, Norlinnah, Yvette, Hasna, Cordell and Liyana have been nominated to participate in SMRT SCEP Programme. Four Sec 3 cadets will attend the SNCO Course in March. They are Yvette, Irinie, Hasna and Cordell. The minimum rank is SGT. The next SNCO Course is in June.

Ma'am Norazian volunteered to be an usher at the NPCC NCDCC Parade and the OIC of Sec 2 ATC. She will organise a meeting with the teacher officers who will be on duty during the ATC and accompany Nadia, Adlina, Aqila, Qamarina, Khairunadia, Rysha, Norlinnah, Nur Hanis, Suhailah, Nadya, Suzy and will be assisted by Liyana, Stacee-Ann and two SNCOs, namely, Felicia and Elizabeth from 19 to 20 Feb 2011.
